Gasboys Forums

Welcome
How is your acid-base physiology?

Welcome to gasboys.net. Thanks for dropping by.

Gasboys is a completely free, non-profit web site dedicated to making it less onerous for anaesthesia trainees (Gasboys and Gasgirls) to pass their Fellowship examinations and, hopefully, become better anaesthetists.

The site contains a growing database (PET) of over 7500 anaesthesia related multiple-choice questions, covering physiology, pharmacology, physics, statistics, and the latest clinical evidence. You are very welcome to create a free account and begin answering questions. The idea is you just keep coming back. Each time you return, PETi will ask you the questions you got wrong and questions you have not done before based on customised prioritisation logic. This logic enables you to return to the site as often as you can. The more questions you get through the more you will learn. You do not have to worry about where you were up to and which topics you are weak on — PETi tracks your performance and looks after that for you — so you can simply focus on learning.

Please help expand and improve the gasboys question database. Gasboys needs your help to stay current and improve. If you see an error, you can fix it. If you want to provide clarifying notes or a reference, you can add them. Give it a try, just follow the links! There is a 'sandbox' subject for you to play with to get the hang of question authoring. The long-term goal is for gasboys to be maintained largely by its users. Apart from giving permission to other gasboys users to use and edit your questions, you retain copyright of any questions you add to gasboys. (In the future, users may also be able to download your questions for non-profit use, under strict conditions). You will find that writing questions yourself is a great way of studying.

Please visit the forum to make comments, suggestions or to report problems or difficulties.

Do you have some hours to spare on those quiet ICU or maternity shifts? or do you just want to contribute something to your fellow anaesthetists? Then I could really use your help.

Have you just sat the recent (or previous) part 1 exam?

Posted by: erich on 11/04/2006 06:30 PM (Read: 1087)
Please let me know if you passed or failed. What I need to know is your ID (either the number or your actual user ID) and how you went in each part (passed, invite to viva but didn't pass, no invite). I can then pull that together with the data I can link in from the database.

Books, books, books!

Posted by: erich on 11/03/2006 07:15 PM (Read: 614)
I've started imbedding ISBN's into the reference text where questions are based on textbooks. Some of my Part 1 references were particularly cryptic, but now you can look them up in amazon.com. If you actually buy a book you can help me pay my server charges. Or should I link to amazon.co.uk instead?
