Anything you post in the forum becomes publicly available.
Other users can view your results on PETi by your specific gasboys ID number or, if configured, your public 'alias'. While your gasboys ID number is published neither your e-mail, user name or IP number are. This site will not enable your ID number to be linked to your user name or IP number. See the ‘activity’ page as an example). I publish this information to provide you and others with benchmarks and also to enable us all to improve the question database.
I use other information available to me to improve the site for the benefit of you and other users.
General
This site collects information from you primarily to make the site more rewarding for you and others. You are asked to provide information such as your email address and may also ask about your interests. It is entirely your choice whether to respond to these questions or not.
How much of your personal information you choose to disclose on gasboys is completely up to you. The only way I know something about you personally, such as your name or e-mail address, is if you tell me.

Gasboys' web server automatically gathers anonymous information to monitor the site use and help resolve errors. Personally, I was surprised to learn that web servers routinely log information including IP numbers, what browser program and operating system you are using, and the site that referred you. However, they all do - and this site is no exception.
The site uses cookies mainly to enable you to move from page to page without having to log in each time. Some of the advertisers on the site also place cookies to allow them to pay gasboys a commission for sales to gasboys users. You may block these 'third-party' cookies without affecting your ability to use gasboys in any way.
The Forum
I suggest that you use your discretion and exercise caution when providing your personal information.
If you post personal information in the forum, this information becomes available to anyone with access to the internet. This information can be collected and used by others and you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties. If you do not want your real name to appear use a false name but never use somebody else's name.

This site requires that you supply an e-mail address when you sign up to use PETi. If your privacy is extremely important to you than you are welcome to supply a fake e-mail address.

Under no circumstances will I sell or receive payment for licensing or disclosing your personal information.
If I reasonably form the opinion that you would appreciate me contacting you about a particular issue or asking a colleague to contact you I may do so. I do not do this lightly or routinely.
