You may have noticed the sudden appearance of ads on this site To be honest, I'm really not sure about advertising and wasn't ever intending to place ads on gasboys. It started when I added those ISBNs to the textbooks so I could link through to amazon. That seemed a useful thing to do to decipher my otherwise cryptic references. From there I just started playing. I noticed the google adds at the BMJ site, and then Kerry put them his site, so I thought if it was good enough for them, it is good enough for me... and playing around with ads on my site has become a form of procrastination. The ads also ad a little colour to an otherwise bland site, but I think if I notice a drop in traffic then I'll pull them. I've put many hundreds of hours into gasboys, so a few cents from advertising doesn't mean much if it stops the site from reaching its potential. The other thing I've decided is that, other than via google, I wont accept and direct advertising from drug companies or equipment suppliers. Anyway I'd like to know your views on the advertising. |
